Formwork Construction Services

We can make pretty much anything out of concrete.

The popularity of concrete is ever increasing in today’s thrive to create something unique, abstract and far away from the norm when it comes to home construction and furnishing. This has led to increase in demand for feature walls, concrete polished floors, concrete staircases, garden planters, work surfaces and even fully functional bars and kitchens. Anything can now be formed out of concrete by our formwork specialists. As a leading concrete contractor the list of what we can construct for you is endless.

Bespoke basements & swimming pools

Concrete basement construction and waterproof-envelopes for swimming pools have become our speciality. Over the past four years, we have worked alongside many clients, architects, and property developers to help deliver their vision of creating more space for their new build homes or apartments.
As we specialise in formwork construction, we work closely with the renowned Concept Pools to produce tailor-made swimming pools, spas, saunas and wet leisure facilities of any shape and size. Whether the end result is a contemporary design with an infinity edge or a more traditional design with whirlpool seating, the formwork that underpins the whole structure is always constructed to the highest quality standards by ourselves.

We maintain a strict two system waterproof protection on all projects that are required to be watertight such as; basements, swimming pools and flood prevention systems. The first system is waterproof concrete.
The second involves CETCO approved products such as their Voltex waterproof membranes, which are adhered to our formwork prior to a concrete pour creating a watertight bond between the product and the concrete. Jon Johnstone is accredited and supported by CETCO which allows a 10 year Warranty to be issued on completion of the project.

Exposed concrete

Many of the projects we undertake – such as basement and swimming pool structures - are purely functional and are covered up with other materials. But there’s a trend for concrete to be left exposed and it has really impressive results - particularly on floors, which can be polished, as well as feature walls and ceilings.
It offers a raw, industrial finish and can add texture to a room. While it can provide a focal point, it’s also incredibly subtle.

Exposed concrete options

Concrete floor specialists

Concrete floors work really well in open plan environments and are an affordable alternative to wooden floors. They’re practical, easy to maintain, and can be polished. It also looks really effective when the interior concrete floor is extended into the garden.

Concrete walls

While these can look rough and come with characteristic holes, they are a great way to add visual interest to a room, even if just one wall is made from concrete.

Other concrete options

Many other items can be made from concrete, and left exposed, such as staircases, shelving, kitchen worktops, ceilings, fireplaces and seating.
